A stacker crane is a machine integrated into an Automated Storage/Retrieval System, also known as AS/RS. The AS/RS are computer-controlled systems for storing and retrieving products in manufacturing warehouses and facilities. The stacker crane’s role in the system is to transfer large unit loads from a specific storage slot to a pickup or delivery station. The stacker crane is a large carriage that is built directly between the aisles of the AS/RS.
